New Hampshire Parental Bill of Rights
New Hampshire law recognizes and protects the rights of parents to direct the care, education, upbringing, and well-being of their minor children. The Merrimack School District recognizes these rights and will administer its educational programs and services in accordance with the New Hampshire Parental Bill of Rights, RSA Chapter 189-B, and other applicable state and federal law.

Educational Materials & Curriculum: The right to inspect instructional materials, course syllabi, and supplemental educational resources, as well as the procedure to object to specific classroom materials.

Health & Sex Education: The right to advance notification regarding health education content and the right to opt out or withdraw a child from any portion of sex education or sexuality instruction.

Student Records & Data Privacy: The right to access and review all academic and medical records maintained by the school, and to opt out of district-level data collection not required by state or federal law.

Surveys & Questionnaires: The right to prior notification and the ability to opt a child out of any non-academic surveys, evaluations, or questionnaires.

School Activities & Clubs: The right to information regarding the nature, purpose, and activities of all school-sponsored clubs, extracurriculars, and co-curricular programs.

Information & Communication: The right to inquire and receive prompt, accurate, and complete disclosure from school personnel regarding a child’s progress, attendance, and general school matters.

Standardized Testing & Academic Assessment: The right to receive reports on academic achievement and growth, as well as the right to exempt a child from participating in required statewide standardized assessments.

Educational Placement: The right to choose options for a child's education, including public school, public charter school, non-public school, or home education programs. 1
